Title: Custom pages..
Post by: The nomad on April 01, 2010, 03:11:12 PM
I have SP 2.3.1.

Is it possible that someone could explain in layman terms how to use pages  :nervous-happy:   An example would help enormously. Although not a techie by an stretch of the imagination, I do understand most of the other blocks but Pages keeps throwing me.

Thanks.....

A Page is a new location on your website, where you can choose the main content of the page.

Types are BBC, HTML and PHP, which can contain BBC, HTML and PHP text/code respectively.

Using the pages function is as simple as creating a new page with some content that you want it to have, then creating a link to it somewhere on your website (if you want people to access it) - You could add a forum menu link, link from a block or from a topic, or whatever you want.

An example:
The page: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?page=test_page
The pages code:
Code: [Select]
Hey! I'm a test page. ;)
Url format is: "http://www.forum.com/index.php?page={page_id}" where you can choose the '{page_id}' value.

With a custom page, how did you add the blocks on the left?

Kable, just go to edit the block, and scroll down change "portal" for viewing to "everywhere" or whatever you want.

You can also use the Advanced Display options, they have a checkbox for each page so that you can display the block there.
