Shout Box Permissions
« on: February 23, 2010, 01:42:04 PM »
SMF 2 RC2
Simple Portal 2.3.1

In a word awesome

I have a number of other mods installed and it seems to have gone in without problems

I am still configuring some things, but it seems to be exactly what I was looking for

One problem that I cannot seem to figure out is permissions for the shout box

I have one shoutbox turned on, but can only see it from my administrators account

When I log in as a regular user, moderator or simply as a guest it is not visible

Logging back in with my admin account I can see it.

Have read through the entire support forum and cannot see where anyone else is having this problem, except one person who said it had to be configured in blocks

I have tried just about all settings in blocks that seem reasonable with zero luck

any suggestions ?

Each shoutbox has its own permissions, which you can edit from the Shoutbox area of the SimplePortal admin category. Check those permissions as well.

Ok, I have one shout box named Soapbox, when I go into the shout box configuration I select it, and set permissions to all user groups.

When I check group permissions I have everything except guests checked.

Then I go to the block list and select soapbox to edit, I check it and again I have the radio button set to all member groups and when I check the group permissions everything except guests is checked.

when I log back in as admin, I can see the shout box, when I log out and log back in as a regular user I cannot see it.

Update

I went back and set both areas to "ignore permissions" and now it works like I think it should
