Topic: SP 2.2 install failed, then SP 2.1.1 reinstall failed

Uninstalled my SP 2.1.1 (all via package manager).

Tried to install SP 2.2.

Received:
=> FTP Information Required
Some of the files the package manager needs to modify are not writable. This needs to be changed by logging into FTP and using it to chmod or create the files and folders. Your FTP information may be temporarily cached for proper operation of the package manager.

Tried the temp 777 fix. Didn't work.

Tried to fall back and reinstall SP 2.1.1.

Checked PhpMyAdmin and the four sp_x's are there.

Any ideas? The goal would be to get SP 2.2 installed, but if that doesn't work, then I would like to go back to SP 2.1.1.

For the SP 2.2 FTP issue, try chmoding your sources and templates folders as well. It possible that you may also need to chmod your main 'index.php' file.

The SP 2.1.1 issue is related to a bug with SMF 2 RC1, the SP 2.2 installer includes a 'workaround' for that issues.

Thanks for the advice. While chmoding and trying again to install 2.2, I realized my mistake. I had recently moved the forum from another server, and I had some old themes defined in the admin center but not physically present on my new server. [the "install in other themes" option is collapsed, and not checked, so I had overlooked this]. Once I removed the old themes from admin center, then everything went fine.
