At the moment, that may be the only workaround.

If you have time, does installing 1.1.9 and then SimplePortal 2.2.1 work?
Ms. Eliana TamerinIt should be painfully obvious by now that I don't respond to support PMs. Don't send me PMs for support. They will be ignored and deleted, post on the Support Boards to get support.

Just as a note: SimplePortal installs fine on SMF 1.1.9 and SMF 2RC1.1, the only issue is with the upgrade process between SMF 1.1.8 and 1.1.9 (due to an edit made by the upgrade process).

To upgrade from SMF 1.1.8 to SMF 1.1.9, without uninstalling SP first:
Continue with the SMF 1.1.9 upgrade and then perform the edit below for your main 'index.php' file, using FTP or your hosts file manager along with a text editor, such as Notepad++.

Find this code (index.php):
Code: [Select]
'.xml', 'verificationcode'Replace with this code:
Code: [Select]
'verificationcode'
If that looks to hard for you then you can also uninstall SimplePortal, upgrade SMF and then reinstall SimplePortal (which should work perfectly).

Ok so the upgrade went ok

Next problem:

5 mods ended up like: [ List Files ]  [ Delete ]

Yet they were previously ok.

That means that the mods state in their packages/install code that they only work with certain versions, such as SMF 1.1.7, 1.1.8, etc. They will still mostly likely work with SMF 1.1.9 (as they caused no upgrade errors) but you won't be able to uninstall them from the package manager, without installing an update for the mod (which should tell the package manager that its compatible with SMF 1.1.9) or editing the mod package on your server (under 'packages') so that it will uninstall for SMF 1.1.9.

Sorry if that explanation is a bit too long, basically, its not an issue unless you want to uninstall one of those mods. ;)

If you do, then I can help you. :)

4.     SMF 1.0.16 / 1.1.8 Update      1.0

15.     Member Color Link      3.0.5a

17.     E-Arcade      2.5.7

28.     MessagePreviewOnHover      1.7

59.     Timezone Select      1.1.2

64.     Next Post Level      1.2

These are the mods in question

NOTE: The arcade section still requires work ie added to users info on forum and portal etc as do the spiders.

The Listener,

I was told the same thing, HOWEVER it was my strong DESIRE to DESTROY ALL MY MODS.  So, I didn't do what was told, instead I downloaded the full upGRADE.zip not upDATE.zip.

I spent about 3 hours :O replacing a whole bunch (50? 70?) files and then had a diplay.php error when trying to read posts :angry-yell:. SMF was able to give me the solution and it was all better. ;D

But alas, I shall slowly manually install all mods (well, except Simple Portal *smiles* ;)).

I wish you good luck. :nervous-happy:

Be Well,
Cloud Walker

@TheListener,
It shouldn't be an issue unless you want to uninstall any of those mods. ;) The best place to get help with a specific mod is probably its mod topic on SM.org.
