Forum dead after uninstall
« on: September 17, 2009, 04:25:04 AM »
HELP PLEASE  ;)

I wanted to upgrade my forum from SP 2.2.2 to version 2.3

I have disabled the portal (before it was on the frontpage).
Then i uninstalled the 2.2.2 version.
After that, my forum was dead, just a blank site  :(

I think there is just a problem with my index.php but i don´t know
how to fix it.

http://www.semperfigermany.de/FORUM2/index.php

Thank you in advance

------UPDATE--------

Ive restored the backup (the system creates when in-/uninstalling packages). Now the Forum is running again.

But iam a little afraid to try it again  :nervous-happy:

What errors do you get when you try to uninstall SP 2.2.2?

Hi Nathaniel !

The first time there was just one error.

Now there are 4 errors, perhaps depending on the backup restore aktion !?!?!

-------------
ACTION ---> ./index.php

SEARCH [Auswählen]
// Load SimplePortal. sportal_init(); // Is the forum in maintenance mode? (doesn't apply to administrators.) if (!empty($maintenance) && !allowedTo('admin_forum'))

------

So i´ve solved 3 of the 4 errors by myself (i´am sooo proud  :D ).
The errors were caused by other mods, so the SEARCH string, the uninstall routine looks for was not correct.

But i´dont understand the last problem:

The problem comes in REPLACE ->     ./index.php

The error message:

SEARCH [Auswählen]
// Load SimplePortal.
sportal_init();

// Is the forum in maintenance mode? (doesn't apply to administrators.)
if (!empty($maintenance) && !allowedTo('admin_forum'))

==========================

REPLACE [Auswählen]
// Is the forum in maintenance mode? (doesn't apply to administrators.)
if (!empty($maintenance) && !allowedTo('admin_forum'))

Here is the code of my orig index.php

// Load SimplePortal.
sportal_init();

// Is the forum in maintenance mode? (doesn't apply to administrators.)
if (!empty($maintenance) && !allowedTo('admin_forum'))

For me it looks absolutely identic, so i´dont understand the problem !

Greets, MOH

Proceed with the uninstall and then upload the attached file to replace your old index.php file.

There were some compatibility issues with the Site Integration Mod, it also edits similar code in the index.php file.

Hi Nathaniel !

Thank you for your support !

Now the deinstallation works without troble. I used your index.php and the Forum is still alive.

But now i have another problem  :(

When i look to the packet manager, the SP 2.3 has a red dot (OLD VERSION). So i cant start installation.

I made a version check of my Forum:

Everything is    2.0 RC1.2
except for LANGUAGE and TEMPLATE, its 2.0 RC1

Check that there aren't any older versions of SimplePortal that the package manager thinks are installed.

Also, can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

The 2.2.2 is uninstalled and then deleted. Ihave checked it with a FTP proggi, no other SP version in the package directory.

Here is the screenshot

Have you tried deleting the 2.3 package and then reuploading it?

It definitely looks like you have the coprrect version of SMF and SP, and the version listed as the latest on the SMF website is correct, not entirely sure why it says its too old at the moment.

OK, i dont know what the problem was, but i solved it  ;D

1) delete the SP 2.3 version via ftp
2) download it via Simple Maschine Forum as ZIP
3) go to download package and uploaded it as ZIP

NO ERROR MESSAGE, SP 2.3 RUNS PERFECT  ;D

Thank you very much for your support, Nathaniel  :applause:
