Removing Header info on sp frontpage
« on: April 08, 2009, 06:06:11 PM »
Hi there  :nervous-happy:

I've been looking for a while but really didn't find anything.
I would like to remove the info that is available in blocks from the original smf header, but only on the frontpage.

Such as 'log in form', 'user info' (including "show unread posts and new replies" links and "time online") and 'search fuction'.

Thanks in advance!   :D

Please post your '/Theme/{themename}/index.template.php' file as an attachment. I need to know the theme that you are using, I can also use that file to add the required edits.

Also, which version of SMF are you using?

Just a basic core theme of 2.0 RC   :)
A bit modded already.

That file has not been properly uploaded/downloaded, if you have a look then you will notice that it doesn't contain all the code that is usually in the default 'index.template.php' file.

Here are the edits that are required, if you can post that file again then I can perform them for you.

Find this code:
Code: [Select]
<a href="#" onclick="mainHeader.toggle(); return false;"><img id="upshrink" src="', $settings['images_url'], '/', empty($options['collapse_header']) ? 'upshrink.gif' : 'upshrink2.gif', '" alt="*" title="', $txt['upshrink_description'], '" align="bottom" /></a>
Replace with this code:
Code: [Select]
', empty($context['menu_buttons']['home']['active_button']) ? '<a href="#" onclick="mainHeader.toggle(); return false;"><img id="upshrink" src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/' . (empty($options['collapse_header']) ? 'upshrink.gif' : 'upshrink2.gif') . '" alt="*" title="' . $txt['upshrink_description'] . '" align="bottom" /></a>' : '', '
Find this code:
Code: [Select]
echo '
</ul>
<div id="user_section" class="bordercolor"', empty($options['collapse_header']) ? '' : ' style="display: none;"', '>
<div class="windowbg2 clearfix">';

Replace with this code:
Code: [Select]
echo '
</ul>';

if (empty($context['menu_buttons']['home']['active_button']))
{
echo'
<div id="user_section" class="bordercolor"', empty($options['collapse_header']) ? '' : ' style="display: none;"', '>
<div class="windowbg2 clearfix">';

Find this code:
Code: [Select]
// Show a random news item? (or you could pick one from news_lines...)
if (!empty($settings['enable_news']))
echo '
<div id="random_news"><h3>', $txt['news'], ':</h3><p>', $context['random_news_line'], '</p></div>';

echo '
</div>
</div>';

Replace with this code:
Code: [Select]
// Show a random news item? (or you could pick one from news_lines...)
if (!empty($settings['enable_news']))
echo '
<div id="random_news"><h3>', $txt['news'], ':</h3><p>', $context['random_news_line'], '</p></div>';

echo '
</div>';
}
echo '
</div>';

Reviving this topic because I'm looking to do the same thing and unsure how to do it also.

Using SMF 2 rc 1.2 and simple portal 2..3

My one I want to remove these things:

-Top menu
-Login and post details
-linktree from the homepage

im using the OverView (SMF 2.0 RC1) theme from here

My index.template is attached.

Thanks

BTW the portal is great and should serve me well.
