Title: Re: Upgrade from 2.2.2 to 2.3
Post by: poy on September 04, 2009, 12:43:50 PM

I tried to upgrade to 2.3.
Installation went well but after installation is complete, I got this error:
"Unable to load the 'Portal' template. "
I couldn't revert back now because I could not access the admin page.
How should I go through this?
Please help...Thanks

Darn..
I think I figured it out...
The portal templates were not loaded to the template/theme folder I am using. The files were loaded to the default theme folder...

I copied the portal*** files to my current theme folder at it seemed to be working fine...
Am I doing it right?
Are there other files I need to copy?

poy,
I have split this support request from the other one, as they are unrelated.

There should be no need to have the portal template files in the folder for your custom theme (as SMF should use the template files from the default theme when they don't exist in the custom themes folder). I would highly recommend that you don't copy those files into your custom themes folder, because you will have to replicate any custom changes or upgrades to those files, for your custom theme (which is a waste of time).

Try deleting the Portal template files in your default themes folder, and then copying them there from the package.

Did you do a manual install? If so, then you could be missing some of the template files from your default themes folder.

Thanks a lot Nathaniel.
I actually tried to upgrade from the SMF admin panel and not a manual upgrade.
Did you mean that I should re-upload the template files manually from the upgrade package?

Thanks again

Sorry about the wait on this issue.

Re-upload the template files ('smf1/Themes/default' in the package) manually from the SP package to your 'Themes/default' folder (to make sure that they are there). Then delete any SimplePortal template files in the folders for your custom themes, they aren't necessary.
