This is not the correct board for customisation request. Moving this topic to the Custom Coding board.

Please do a search before posting a customisation request, this question has been asked many times. Please refer to the following topic: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=3123.msg20397#msg20397

Brill many thanks again
i've been looking through the code for what was described in this thread
http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=3123.msg20397#msg20397

what i am trying to do is organise the order in which the staff are listed if thats possible
i'd like it to be Senior Leaders (admin) Senior Mods (global mod) regular mods and then tech guys

the staffing code starts on line 2236 of the attached portalblocks.php
is it possible that you can explain what i've got to change and what to please if it's no trouble

many thanks steve

well i'm getting there but could do with some advice please
i looked at this thread http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=5833.msg34628#msg34628
and it has solved some of my problems, but putting the staff in order that they joined.

however thats not quite what i want so i looked here http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=2110.msg14959#msg14959
this didn't work either i love all staff apart from 1 tech guy ????

what i have on my staff list is admin (now named senior leader) (i want this first)
Global mod (now called senior moderator) (i want these ppl 2nd)
Moderator (i want these ppl 3rd)
i also added a new group called 'Tech Guys' but i don't really want these on the staff list

has anyone got any idea of what i need to use please i know its not standard code and i would really appreciate some help

many thanks

i managed to get a solution of Spuds on the smf forum
it worked sort of apart from the gender icons aren't quite right so i'm looking into why but here's the coding for sorting the staff order out

There is really not a one glove for all here since the sort order is neither alphabetical nor numerical.  The best thing to do is something like this.

find:
Code: [Select]
   $staff_list = array();
   $colorids = array();

replace with:
Code: [Select]
   $staff_list = array();
   $colorids = array();
   $sortorder = array('Administrator', 'Senior Leader', 'Senior Moderator', 'Moderator', 'Tech Team');

The list will sort in order of the groups listed, so if you want a different order or have different group names then you will have to add / change them.

find:
Code: [Select]
      if (in_array($row['id_member'], $admins))
         $row['type'] = 1;
      elseif (in_array($row['id_member'], $global_mods))
         $row['type'] = 2;
      else
         $row['type'] = 3;

      $staff_list[$row['id_member']] = array(

replace with:
Code: [Select]
      $sort_key = array_search($row['group_name'],$sortorder);
      if ($sort_key !== false)
         $row['type'] = $sort_key + 1;
      else
         $row['type'] = count($sortorder) + 1;

      /*
      if (in_array($row['id_member'], $admins))
         $row['type'] = 1;
      elseif (in_array($row['id_member'], $global_mods))
         $row['type'] = 2;
      else
         $row['type'] = 3;
      */

      $staff_list[$row['type'] . '-' . ucwords($row['real_name'])] = array(

this just changes how the row['type'] is set, instead of by authority level its now by the order of the $sortorder list and then by the members name in for each 'group'
