Title: Top Poster "Hall of Fame"
Post by: FireDitto on August 14, 2012, 08:03:11 AM
I was playing with the code from here (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=10684.msg55112#msg55112) and considering the way I'd best like to deal with such a block when I had an idea; I do not know if it is possible, but I expect it would be... somehow.

Ideally, I'd love to be able to show each month's most active member (from a selected group/s) so it would be something like the below; a Hall of Fame, if you would, listing the most active for each month (preferably in rows of 3 or 4):

MONTH
MEMBER NAME
AVATAR
post count

Is it possible? Would it require a lot of work? I'm not a coder so I'm in the dark =)

This is certainly possible.  In order to avoid running the required queries every time the block is loaded, you may want to store the "hall of fame" in a new table you set up just for this purpose.  And you would want to add a bit to automatically calculate the latest addition to the hall of fame (which would check to see if it had been done or not).

Finally, you would create a block to display it.
This is definitely a custom coding project.

Would someone mind moving it, to save posting again?

Ta =)

I hope this new location helps you find the help you need to write this block.
