Title: Main_Block questions
Post by: Fog on November 26, 2011, 03:25:43 AM
Not sure how to ask this question...

How many different place's will you find the main_block png file?

or

Can you find the main_block png file outside of CSS?

I'm part Admin on a Sports Forum, that uses SMF, for several years now and enjoy the idea of a portal.

With your recent upgrades, I'm looking to upgrade the themes I've made along with new ones I want to create.

How does one create a theme that doesn't require one adding portal css to a custom theme?

Not sure if I understand the question correctly but...

Each theme will have its own main_block.png file. If you want to create a new theme, you can just take the one in default theme and modify it as you like. I think you can find the editable file over at simplemachines.org forums too.

With SimplePortal 2.3.4 version, we've fixed the issue with requiring portal.css for custom themes. So as long as you have a main_block.png with the same structure as the one in default theme, it should work fine.

Thanks SiNaN for taking the time to reply.  I, like some of the others, still have a problem with the left hand side catbg or titlebg and it's still show my main_block png file but only on my portal blocks.  I've gone and made my own main_block png file and have named it main_block4 png.  I've gone through and changed all the main_block png files to main_block4 png, on every CSS file I know of, and I still have the same problem.  I've copied the Portal CSS and added it to my theme and modified the CSS to include a few of what the others have done to fix this problem. I still have the main_block png showing up on the left hand side of my portal blocks.  I'm wondering if I'm misssing any other CSS files that may contain the main-block png file.  Hence why I wonder how many different folders contain the main_block png file.

Thanks

Fog

Yeah, looks like we failed fixing it with 2.3.4 for some themes too. See this topic for details:
