The SimplePortal Team is happy to announce the release of SimplePortal 2.3.5, code-named "Railgun!" This release includes fixes for the bugs found in the 2.3.4 version, and features full SMF 2.0.2 and 1.1.16 compatibility.
We urge all users to upgrade to SimplePortal 2.3.5 as soon as possible to take advantage of the bug fixes. A full list of changes for 2.3.5 can be found in the changelog.txt file within the SimplePortal package, but the major fixes are:
- Broken header bars in custom themes
- Undefined indexes caused by feed parser
- Custom permissions being reset on preview
- Page blocks being reset in some cases
- Shoutbox requests not updating user logs
- Parsed content in tag parameters breaking BBC parsing
- Several fixes to the layout and spacing
Unfortunately, there is no auto-upgrade option from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 due to the number of changes. So, if you are running 2.3.4 or an older version, you can upgrade by following these three steps. You shouldn't lose any data, but for safety, you should always back up before modifying your forum.
- Uninstall SimplePortal.
- Download SimplePortal 2.3.5. (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=downloads;area=stable_simpleportal_packages;file=118;download)
- Install SimplePortal 2.3.5, and you are ready to go!
Finally, please do not use this topic for any support requests. You will get a much more prompt response by posting in Install and Upgrade (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?board=54.0) board.
Thanks for all your support, and keep those bug reports and feature requests coming!

Good job ;)
-
This is great!
Now it looks like I have a little bit of work to do on my forum!
-
One forum?
Meh I have 2 to update.
:O
-
I wanted to test a bit more but not much time... and no bugs reported? :)
I guess its Murphy's Law anyway ... someone will report a bug just after its released stable.

lol, so true!
-
Apologies, but I've gone blank...
Will uninstalling/re-installing lose our blocks, or will they be retained in the database?
-
The "data" here includes your blocks:

Another quick question...
I have SimplePortal showing twice in my Package Manager list, one for 2.3.3 and one for 2.3.4. (See attachment.)
2.3.4 has an uninstall opion, while 2.3.3 has only a delete option.
Do I need to remove both of these before installing 2.3.5?

Please use the appropriate board for support questions.
Beforte installing 2.3.4 the previous version shoulda been uninstalled.
-
And the bug board is still quiet.
-
Thanks for the update fixed some the major issues i had with SP.
-
Shoutbox is working properly - but you have to add the database to change the encoding language. Errors in the event I can not see.
-
The quote bug is also fixed! :D Really good news.
-
I'm ready to try it out... 8)
I'll update NGS with it tomorrow and see how it works...
Just a note that I've seen in the past with any package.
Uninstall the Package before you delete it...
If, You delete the package before uninstalling it, the same old package will show up on your database.
You can go into your C-Panel and see this.
-
Thank you for release :nervous-happy:
-
Thanks guys and gals, excellent work. Uninstalled 234 OK, Installed 235 OK. Simples ! :)

Work well with many my own code and also work well with my own Simplified Chinese UTF8 translation language php.
Thanks again to those "Hero" work with the SP development.
-
Do i need Pro Hosting to Upgrade SMF? Cause I don't know how to Upgrade :O
-
you need hosting that allows you to install mods, few popular free SMF host don't allow that.
Besides that, this isn't support topic, if you have any questions about hosting ask here: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?board=17.0 (or if you have problems with installing post here http://simpleportal.net/index.php?board=54.0 ).

I hate myself for ever having tried other solutions such as tinyportal, ezportal etc on some of my forums.
SimplePortal I f****in' love you for simplicity and even perfection. My sites that run SimplePortal have no issues at all.
Edited due to vulgar language.

huzzah.. finally got around to updating..
I wont tell you how much fun I had.. Actually.. I will..
Because my SP has been tampered with endlessly like changing codes for calendar, and my site usings pngs as post icons not gifs and a whole host of other things, plus added to that that my forum is extensively modified and recoded, 2.3.4 refused to uninstall.. and upgrading was not an option..
Just had great fun individiually recoding each file one by one with the updates whilst keeping in place my edits, and then going through the core file changes and editeding them one by one.. :D
Hurrah for Examdiff and notepad++
All worked though.. happily onto 2.3.5 :D
-
Congratulations to you.
May I make a suggestion? Package your edits as -- packages. Then, you can install/uninstall these changes at will, whenever you want.
-
yeh, I redid the install package for the changes to the core smf files.
the sp files i just updated each of the new files with my various edits and saved them.
one of the great things about smf is how easy it is to edit. one of the worst things about smf is how easy it is to edit. Im dreading 2.1
-
great for the program
-
where i can get the website to install the theme
-
To install SMF themes you need to see SMF documentation. Install from SMF theme menu in the Admin panel - for details, have a look on the SMF site:
