Hi,

I'm having a problem with the shoutbox. I get a horizontal scrollbar and have to scroll left and right to read messages. Is there a way to fix this so the message is wrapped and can be read without the need for horizontal scrolling?

Could you please post a link to your website? Its difficult to debug a css/html issue without the page itself. This issue does not occur in a clean version of SP 2.3.2.

I also need to be able to see the shoutbox, or a different shoutbox if you want. I don't need to be able to make shouts, just to be able to view it with the problem occuring.

If the shoutbox looks ok on viewing, trying typing something long in like a url and the problem reoccurs.

Thanks, although it works fine for the browser/os that I am using (chrome, opera and firefox under linux - funtoo). Which browser/os do you use?

Thanks for looking, It doesn't matter what browser are used it still happens, many users have experienced it, I think one of the other admins or mods has temporary fixed the problem by clearing out messages.

If you could take another look but also type in something long such as a url or a long string of random characters, you will see the problem with reoccur.

I know this problem, mostly it happenes with URLs that are too long. Is this can be cleared in a new version that would be fine!

Is there a way or modification to get the shoutbox to automatically recognise URL's and change them for a hyperlink labelled "link" or to a tinyurl address?

This would solve this problem.

There isn't a whole lot that can be done to fix this problem nicely, wrapping the lines is difficult.

What you can do is this:
- Avoid posting entire urls, use the '[url=url]title[/url]' bbc to post urls in the shoutbox.
- Some sort of tinyurl changing mod as you suggested. I would suggest that you request that in the relevant Customization board if you are still interested.
