Title: Sidebar ("Block") Help Please
Post by: academicsupporter on November 20, 2011, 01:51:18 PM
Greetings.

You'll soon be able to tell that I don't know much about SMF or computers in general.  Anyway...

I just installed SMF.  I wanted a sidebar on the left with links to various pages of my website.

I was told that Simple Portal would help me to do that, so I installed it.

I wanted the rest of the SMF site to look just like the default.  In other words, I wanted people NOT to see articles, etc. on the front page---just forums and categories.

What can I do to make it all look just like a forum/discussion board with a left sidebar?

Thanks all.

SimplePortal has the Integration mode which is exactly what you are looking for. Go to Admin > SimplePortal > Configuration > General Settings and change the Portal Mode option to Integration. Then go to Admin > SimplePortal > Blocks, edit the block you want to be displayed and change the Display Options for the block as Forum.

I hope you won't mind me moving this question from "themes and graphics" to English Support.
