Is there away for this to show a reduced image in the portal block?

The images in the board news block should be reduced, as long as you have put a check in the box "Resizes images on portal " in the general portal settings -- please see http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=general_settings (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=general_settings)
