Sometimes an SMF package installation fails.
Often, the problem is file permissions, and the package manager doesn't even tell you there is a problem.
I think the most common of these problems is the temp folder problem. Please read http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=solving_install_problems (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=solving_install_problems) (a brand-new addition to SimplePortal documentation) and see if the advice there helps.
--------
At any time, you can check for the SimplePortal files in your directories.
You can check for the SimplePortal edits to SMF files.
You can find out what these should be by looking at the manual install instructions on the mod's page. Please see http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=solving_install_problems (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=solving_install_problems) for more information.

Good Luck!

Does your 'Sources' directory contain the 'Subs-Portal.php' and 'Portal*.php' files?
Does search for the text 'portal' come up with any results in your 'Sources/Admin.php' file?

I'm having the same problems, my sources does not contain that "subs-portal.php" and "portal.php" file.
and no to the 2nd question.
I also did that temp folder thing as well.
I'm sure he's in the same situation as me.

Did you follow the suggestions by AngelinaBelle?

Even if SMF is not aware of the problem, SMF failed to install the mod properly if it failed to complete all the mod installation steps.
If, after doing the SimplePortal install, some of the SimplePortal files are missing, you can be sure that the install was not actually successful.
For more information on steps you can take when the SimplePortal install goes badly, please have a look at

Followed your help links. Did the suggestions of another poster. I am getting the same problem and feel it is an issue that needs to be looked into.
ADDED: For me I found that I could not use the default directory path the SM 2.0 rc3 was providing. You have to put in path to root of your ftp access like /domains/xxxx.com/public_html/rc3
Once this was added it installed fine.
Thank you.

@Glasairmell,
This is not an issue with SimplePortal. It is a problem with server setup, file permissions or the SMF package manager. There isn't anything we can do in terms of changing SimplePortal, that woudl help people with these sorts of issues. ;)
@MustiC
Have you managed to resolve this issue yet?

Yes Thank You,
As I posted above this solved the issue. Seem SMF is not putting in the correct path it wants to do the install needed for portals.
