Title: Do I have to uninstall SimplePortal before upgrading to RC5?
Post by: Kajol on February 22, 2011, 05:32:12 AM
When I update to SMF 2.0 RC4 Security Patch or SMF 2.0 RC5, do I need to deinstall Simple Portal and reinstall it afterwards? Like the Update to SMF 2.0 RC4?

I will wait till I have an answer before I update my SMF, okay?

As with all mods simpleportal will require an uninstall before upgrade then a reinstall.

Note that sp 2.3.3 will work on RC5.

Make sure you make a backup first.

RC5 comes as an upgrade.

Upgrades replace files. They do not preserve any changes that have been made to the current files.
This will wipe out the file edits that were made as part of any mod installs to those files.

For this reason, it is simple to just uninstall all mods before doing the upgrade.
