Title: Submenus getting hidden within block

Hello friends
I just created a css based side menu with child sub-menus and put it inside a left block. But when I hover over the menu, the sub-menus get hidden inside the block rather than nicely showing up over the adjoining block on its right side. Is there a way to make the sub-menus show over the block and not be hidden inside the constraints of the block that it is inside of.
