Custom portal size
« on: April 26, 2013, 03:37:51 AM »
Hello there all.

I would like to make change the portal size i think current is 960px not sure i wanted to fixed and "auto adjust" just like this site.

Also i need to know, how i can put html code outside in the right and left of the main portal?

Regards,

There isn't a specific width option for portal. What decides the width is the theme setting.

You can put your extra code around the <table> in Portal.template.php file.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

From what you drew there I see you don't have any side blocks. If you don't just use Custom HTML blocks on left and right side.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

If you want to add something to the sides, then I would suggest using SimpleAds mod here:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2557

That would be the easiest way. You can add ad php or html blocks to left and right sides with lots of options.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Keep in mind that <style> tags belong in the <head> of the html layout, whereas all your SimplePortal block contents reside in the <body> of the page. There are a few ways to do this ie. dynamically using js, include the style elements in an existing css file (SimplePortal or theme) or perhaps the easiest way is to use global style attributes.

ie.
Code: [Select]
<div style="border:1px solid; padding:5px 5px; margin-left: -106px; position:fixed; top:40%; z-index:10; border-radius:5px 5px 5px 5px;">
Testing
</div>
