Using a common template for Articles and the boardNews block would make sense. This would allow NOT using class=titlebg for the titles, and make it easier to write a bit of CSS to customize the appearance.
Users at my site would like a [Print] button at the top of the article.
The only way I can do this is by modifying PortalBlocks.php and/or Articles.php -- steps I know I will have to re-do at each upgrade. Even if I did ever learn how to package mods.
If the template were broken out from the "getting the content" logic, this would be simpler to manage.

It's not viable to use the same template for both due to the way blocks are setup but it'll definitely be a lot lot more easy to modify your blocks with 2.4 version. We are planning some huge changes. ;)
