Title: Having a page on the portal frontpage?

Hi, i am using the latest versions on smf and simpleportal and wanted my site to open with blocks down the left and a designated page in the remaining area.

Can this be done?

No. Your options with SimplePortal are to use the portal page (front page mode, or standalone mode) or to display the board index with blocks around the center area.
 
That said, you can make the portal page look ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE whichever SimplePortal page you have already designed.
