Hello everyone,
As you all know, we have been working on a new "bug fix + some cool minor features" release for some time. We're now in the testing phase. And I'm happy to announce that I've just posted SimplePortal 2.3.4 Beta 2 for Beta Testers to test it. We have been testing this version carefully as the number of changes were a lot more than usual. We have also introduced a new cool tool to keep track of tests we are running. (see the attachments) We're hoping to bring you a more powerful and stable release in the very near future. Get your portals ready for an upgrade!

Oh, no! I didn't know that we would be on TV (aka "the screenshots"). I wish I had done more tests. ;D
-
Will donators be getting their own version?

No.

How you was getting the Link to the old shouts? I can find nothing about this on my SP-ACP or something else ??? :o

You need to click on the clock icon ((http://simpleportal.net/Themes/mehmene/images/sp/history.png)) just above the shouts.

Thanks for the update :)

We've just released 2.3.4 Beta 3 to Beta Testers too. We're planning one last Beta and then we'll be moving to the RC stage which shouldn't be that long unless something unexpected happens.

As you all know, we have been working on a new "bug fix + some cool minor features" release for some time.
Why don't you name the new relaese 2.4.0, since there are some new features buid into it? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning.
I am very curious about those new ice cool features, could you enlighten us?

I've just posted 2.3.4 Beta 4 to Beta Testers. You can expect RC1 very soon.
Why don't you name the new relaese 2.4.0, since there are some new features buid into it? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning.
We didn't name it 2.4 because we promised that 2.4 will have forum independent articles feature added. But the upcoming release has almost all features we were planning for 2.4 except for the articles module.

Here's the changelog since 2.3.3:
Thanks for the explanation. The changelog is very impressive! Keep up the good work!
-
Impressive indeed! You guys are doing an excellent job even though you guys lack support staff and that's what makes this an even more amazing piece of tool.
Keep up the great work sinan & team.
-
Any news? :)
-
I was hoping to include another cool feature in 2.3.4 which I really think is pity not to have, but I couldn't succeed in doing that yet. So it has been delayed this long for that. I'll give it another go today and tomorrow and if I can't complete it, I'll forget about it for now. That means we'll certainly have a public release in a few days.
-
Thanks for all the hard work. A lot of projects like this can take all the time people have... sometimes you have to back off and let more important things in life take priority.
-
Keep up the good work! Can't wait for 2.0.1 portal.
-
OK ... :)
-
Things got delayed again due to stuff at school but I'll quote you my post in Beta Testers board:
I've finally added the last feature for 2.3.4. It completely changes the permission system for blocks, pages and shoutboxes. I really love the new interface. (kudos to Eliana for the idea!) I have only implemented it for SMF 2.0 version of the mod. If it works fine with your tests, I'll backport it to SMF 1.1 version and release the public RC tomorrow. I only had 15 minutes I can spend on the net today. Thanks in advance!
-
Awesome, =D Seems there was a update famine before, but this sounds great, =)
Hope things work out at school too, if it's university studies I know how fast it can overwhelm one, :P Me and my bad planning hehe.
-
Thanks for the mod and updates....
-

Congratulations for all the team. And thank you all (sincerely) for giving us this great tool..... and for free!

[Edit]
Is there a way to remove the "User Box Info" (the one with user avatar, time, newest member, ect) from the portal? It can appear at the forum. I am thinking in some new ideas to the portal with this new features but that menu mess it all up..
Sorry if I couldnt ask it here, but I presume ( ) its easy and maybe a quick reply can help me..

Check the Documentation (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=block_editor) for an explanation of how to make Blocks appear on certain pages.
