Topic: Cannot install Simple Portal

HI - I am new to smf and simple portal, other CMS systems did not have mod/plugin installation issues.

The mod system on smf does not seem to be working well.

I solved the first problem with the temp folder disappearing

ButSMF claims that simple portal is succesfully installed, but it appears that none of the files are installed.  I used the feature to 777 all the files, but that did not help

The manual instructions on the docs page are missing the pictures

I would like the package installer to work so I do not have to manually put in and take out code

any suggestions?

More information, after the installation fails I get these files, I assume they are temp files

I gave up trying to install it, so I made an edits folder with all the manual changes necessary in SMF for a fresh install and just uploaded it to the server

it is working and it looks a nice mod thanks.

It would be nice if you have a modified version of SMF to install with the mod already in, for ppl who install it from stratch, it would have saved me a few hours of work

But its FREE and good so no worries

There are some other steps that you can take to debug the SMF package installer, if you want to try them.

We cannot distribute versions of SMF (modified or otherwise) due to the SMF license. We wouldn't want to anyway, as SMF provides such a good package manager.
