@Sinan (sorry, a little OT):
I have trouble to download SP 2.3.4 RC1 with Firefox, too. IE is working well.
But really curios is, since 3 or 4 days all the firefox-user in my board (including me) have the same problem, there!
On a SP (2.3.3) Page for downloads, my user can download the index.php, the other (regular) attachments are an "application/octet-stream"....
I was nothing changing in the forum, no codes, nothing.
So if you find a solution for this problem, please let me know.
(At first i want to ask in SMF.org, but i trust more you, than the guys from SMF...)
Divecall,
You are having a problem at custom.simplemachines.org? With just this mod, or have you tried others?
Which version of firefox are you using?
When I send the user agent as
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0)
I get
Content-Disposition:
QuoteYou are having a problem at custom.simplemachines.org? With just this mod, or have you tried others?
No, i have no problems there (Only a first moment, when they was doing the server maintance 8th of Nov. i have trouble with ALL the DL from them - for this reason i have the index.php from SMF.org... ;))
I have only trouble on the SP-site (and another page about an insurance). Here i cannot download the mod.
Mozilla Firefox v8.0.
DL from mirror is working well, also directly with IE or chrome: no problem.
How i get the informations about "user-agent" ?
I was reading it can help to rename the cookies. Is it dangerous for my forum?
Thanks for clarifying that.
I've moved this to site discussion.
Some browsers will tell you what "user agent" string you are sending.
For FF, I looked up a list of UAG strings sent by the different FF versions.
And I did my testing at rex swain. But I was testing the wrong repository!
I have tried a fix but I don't have the latest version of Firefox to test it now. See if it works now.
Works on FF ? (might as well call it this, they move through versions so fast!) now.
@Sinan:
Works, but it is totally slow.
When i do right click => "save target as..." i can download the index.php, again.
HOW YOU FIX THIS? Need help too!
Looks like this is a Firefox/SMF-bug...

Well, that's the best I could do for now. Try to live with it, lol.
@SINAN:
How you was fixing this here on Simpleportal.net?
Thank you in advance...
I just removed the double quotes for the filename in Content-Disposition header. It may cause issues for file names with spaces but it won't effect our downloads mod since there aren't any files with spaces in their names there.
Over at simplemachines.org, the team has applied a fix to the downloads site.
If this is working well, the fix also will be in the next available SMF version.
