Title: Problems uninstalling
Post by: Rickardm on August 27, 2014, 02:45:55 AM
Hi.

Problems started with most of the "Whos online" activity shows "Action unknown".
I think it has to do with me trying to install Tapatalk, but it can have something to do with me chaning the index.php in the root folder, replacing an old MKportal index.php file... I am not shure.

Anyway, when trying to uninstall 2.3.3 in order to upgrade portal to 2.3.5 i get the error messege, "unable to uninstall, the folder Sources or one of its files cant be changed (in Swedish, dont know the exact english phraze).
I have made sources and all Simple portal folder and files CHMOD 777 but still the same problem.

I dont know well about SMF file permissions. I know some host servers make problems.

Another easy solution is to look in your 'Packages' folder and inside that you will see another folder 'Backups'.
Every time you install a mod SMF puts a copy of the old files in zips. They are in there with dates in the names.
All you have to do is extract the files back onto your server - in reverse order - newest ones first. When you have done Simple Portal, your system will be restored to a state before Simple Portal.
Then just install the new version and install your mods again.

One other way is using SMF large upgrade package but you will have to reinstall all mods. If you search here you will find lots of info about large upgrade packages.
