Title: Shoutbox - SP Shoutbox vs. Legacy Shoutbox

Just added SimplePortal to my SMF site which already had the Shoutbox Mod installed.

Install went smoothly :).

Just a few  of questions...

Does Simpleportal  include Shoutbox?
If so, should I remove the Shoutbox mod and activate the SP Shoutbox feature?
If so, what are the advantages to using the SP Shoutbox?

Yes, SP has it's own shoutbox.
Yes, I'd use that one, as it's very versatile. In fact, you can have multiple, in different locations of the site, for different things.

On my site, I have the main, one as a Staff chat in staff boards, moderation and admin areas, and one as comments for a certain page.

What BurkeKnight said is correct. And I would use SP's shoutbox (I actually use it as well) also because the other ones have several issues (tried ALL of them before installing SP).

Thanks. I could see the additional features in the SP Shoutbox, just was not sure if it was reliant on the regularl mod or not.

Does look like I'll have to first uninstall SP in order to remove the original Shoutbox, then reinstall.
