Title: Invalid RSS feed
Post by: judge on August 24, 2015, 08:45:10 AM
Hello, I'm trying to dispaly an RSS block.

However when I add the RSS url http://www.centomilavoci.com/it/feed/ (it's a wordpress site) I get the "Invalid feed" message.

I checked iwth RSS validator and everything seems fine. I also checked past topic with similar problems but didn't get to solve the issue.

Could you please help me with that?

Hi, I approved your topic but to be honest I have no idea how you got here at all. SimplePortal needs to be used with SMF (Simple Machines Forum) or ElkArte (ElkArte forum software) in order to work properly, we don't support Wordpress.

A quick look at that page shows that it actually works, but there is no styling for it, so it shows an ugly linktree. This is what my Chrome says
Quote
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Hi, thanks for your response.

I'm using Simple Portal on SMF on www.centomilavoci.com/it/forum

However I would like to import RSS from my blog www.centomilavoci.com/it (wich is based on wordpress) on Simple Portal to show the latest articles. I thought it would work but I think I'm missing something.

Oooh I see, it starts to make sense now ;D

Alright, I think you need an RSS feed code generator or something to throw into a SimplePortal block, because SimplePortal can't retrieve a feed from Wordpress, you need something to do that, then you could be able to import it with an HTML page I think. Never tried this, but in theory...

I'm not sure I understood.

Wordpress has an out-of-the-box rss feed. Isn't this valid? http://www.centomilavoci.com/it/feed/

W3C validator says it's ok http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A//www.centomilavoci.com/it/feed/

I'm not sure how should I generate it in order to make compatible with SimplePortal block

Regards

I'm not sure but I think you need to copy and paste that RSS code into an HTML block/page with proper <script type="text/xmldata"></script> tags. I've never tested this though, so I could be wrong.
Meanwhile I remove the post-approval for your profile.
