Hello everybody!
here's the story: my host decided to close and I lost everything except from a db-backup (4 days old), all attachments gone, everything is gone
so I move to another server I had, installed smf1.1.9 and restored the backup
since I was there I decided to move to 2.0rc1-1 (what could possibly go wrong? I had just lost one server!)
everything is ok with 2rc11 and now I was looking for a portal. I used to have tinyportal for ages, now I installed Simpleportal
I have to say that it is less friendly (and less simple) than tinyportal, but maybe because I'm used to tinyportal in all these years
I'm trying to display the posts from a forum category in the frontpage but with no luck until now! I keep getting the "Welcome to SimplePortal" text :o
my brain is like spaggeti at the moment after all the days rush to restore everything
what I'm looking for might be in front of my eyes but i don't seem to find it
any help/guidance would be most welcomed

The "Welcome to SimplePortal" text is a "Custom HTML" block that you can remove in the admin area.
For displaying the posts from a certain board, try the "Board News Block".

now it is clear to me! simpleportal just has a different approach than tinyportal :)
my frontpage is up and running with smf2 and sp222, thank you :)
sadly I don't have the time to look all the features of SP, maybe later in the summer
I will however stick with it and try to test any new versions
