Title: Is the "Forum Button" template mod mandatory ?
Post by: Storman on March 27, 2010, 03:44:14 PM
As a newbie to SimplePortal please be gentle ! I've read the template tutorials but I'm still unsure about this issue.

I've sucessfully installed SMF RC3 and added SP without too many problems. Now I've added a few extra themes that are compatible with RC3 and they all seem to be working OK with SP.

So my question is do I need to make any adjustments the the relevant index.template.php files for my extra themes ? They all seem to be working fine but I'm unsure if I'm missing something ? Is this a job I definately need to do ? If so, what does it give me ?

Sorry if I've missed the obvious but don't want to proceed further if something nasty will rear its head later  :0

As discussed in the General Custom Theme Tutorial (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=148.0), the only edit needed for an SMF 2 theme is the 'Adding the "Add as Article" button' edit. If your custom themes don't have their own 'Display.template.php' file then you don't need to worry about that anyway, otherwise it would be a good idea to have that button (so that you can make a topic an article while viewing it).
