Title: Adding Left & Right Blocks Outside the Forum Body.
Post by: frantic on September 17, 2010, 09:16:32 PM
Ok so i don't know if this one has been posted before, as i've searched and found nothing.  So we have left and right blocks but can we get outer left and right blocks as well that appear outside the forum borders (not inside the forum body).  Maybe apply it everywhere based on pages the user chooses.  I have no idea what files should be edited to do this as i'm not a coder but for some purposes it just makes things alot cleaner.

Examples  (See the add blocks outside the forum body)
www.realgm.com

With simpleportal currently, your forced to do that stuff in the forum body. for example
http://gadgetank.com/forum/

I just didn't know if someone had already requested this.

You may be happy to know that header/footer blocks are in the works:

The development team may be open to other layout ideas. As long as they can be managed with the power of simplicity, of course.

that is soo cool Angelina, you know another alternative could be to do the same thing with the right and left blocks.  Like make a left-left block.  That way you could have a different panel setting for the forum left &right blocks as compared to the portal.  Like for me i have the articles block on my portal page that is 300px wide.  But its counter productive to have a panel that wide in forums.  Great work you guys, i hope to see it one day.
