On the main page, between left and right block, I would like to have three colums - each giving information from a descent category. Is it possible to make? What changes should I make to have such interface?
Second thing is that I would like to have in the main menu: forum1, forum2, forum3 and forum buttons. forum1 shows only one category from whole forum, forum2 shows second category from whole forum and forum button show all categories and posts - how can I do something like this.

Second part I will try describe once again.
simpleportal.net has 5 main categories: simpleportal, development, support, customization and social. I would like to have five buttons which opens each category only - if I push button on the main page development than I see only these part of forum which refers to the development category.
..and one button forum which opens whole forum with all 5 categories.

I will use this forums categories as an examples, the link for a category is as follows:
for the customization category: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=forum#c7
#c7 is the id for that particular category, so all you need to do for your links is change the id, theres a tutorial on SMF about how to add tabs to a 2.0 forum version.
