Title: Where do I edit the "SMF Version" in my profile?
Post by: aliceaod on January 10, 2011, 06:52:00 AM
I'm trying to post to the English support forum about an issue, but it's not letting me because it says I have not updated my profile to include my version of SMF. I went to my profile 3 times and can NOT find any field where I'm supposed to enter this. Where do I put this information?

SMF 2.0RC4 Simple Portal 2.3.3

The left side image of SP's title bars is not being picked up and loaded when the forum theme is changed.  It's only displaying the default theme image. How do I get it to load the left side image of the title bar of any theme?

It's not the themes, as they display correctly when visiting the forum, it's only breaking with viewing any SP generated pages.

I don't have those options. I don't even see anything anywhere for a signature.

All I seem to have access to is

Profile > Info
Profile > Account Settings.

Under Account Settings I can change:

Username
Name
Email
Allow Others to Email Me
Show Others My Online Status
Choose Password
Verify Password
Secret Question
Answer
Current Password

Then I see a tab for Actions which is for Paid Subscriptions.

These are the only things I see in my profile.

hover the curser over profile on the menu bar and a drop down menu will appear, click on forum profile and its there.

It isn't there for me either. I looked for it when I upgraded my forum and SP. I just assumed that it is restricted until a set number of posts.

edit- It appears that it did show up after 5 posts.

Well...this is my 5th post so let's see if it show up now ;)

EDIT: Yep, that was the ticket.  You have to make 5 posts before you can make a request for support.

Seriously?  That was not the intention. I'll bring this up.

Fixed! Eliana Tamerin has fixed it so that you can edit those fields in your profile, at http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=profile;area=account (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=profile;area=account)

Of course, all new users can fill out those fields when they register an account, also

I must be missing something. I input those fields at registration, and then I edited them after 5 posts. They are there when I view my profile, but they do not display under my avatar on posts. Is there another setting I missed in my profile to make them display?
It is not a big issue for me, but may make it easier if I have to post another support question.

I see those fields under your avatar on your post right now.  Do you see them under anyone else's avatar?

Yes, I see them under everyone else's but my own.  If you can see them, then I guess all is ok. I just wondered why I never saw my own.  :)

Did you use the "Change Profile" button after you made the changes?

I did. It is not a big deal for me. I did notice that if I browse the forum as a guest, I can see it on my own posts, but when I log in and look at the same topic, it is not there.  Odd, but it is just an observation, not an issue.  :)

You don't see your own versions, I believe

I see your versions.

But do you see your own?

I see it when I look at my profile, but not when I look at my posts.

That explains it all for me. I had no idea that what I was seeing is by design.  All is good as far as I am concerned.
As I stated before, it was not an issue anyway, just an observation that had me puzzled.  :)

I misunderstood.  I thought you were not seeing it when you looked at your profile!
I'm glad we got each other straightened out.
