I just stopped by because I wanted to thank you guys for creating Simple Portal and making it freely available.
The support on this site is amazing and I sincerely want to thank you for having helped me make my site what it is now.
I have just gone live a few days ago with my community site (it's very small and only for my local town so I'm not trying to plug users here).

With Simple Portal in combination with SMF 2 and a few additional plug-ins I was able to create what I was planing.

So again - thank you for putting in all this work, so people like me have the opportunity to create projects that would otherwise be out of their reach.
