Title: Graphic error; uses an image from the default theme?

Hey,
I'm having this graphical error where for some reason no matter what theme I use, the portal and admin section for SP will use an image from the default  (as attached)

The only themes this doesn't happen with are core and .. well, default.
Not sure how to fix this?

copy portal.css to the custom theme.
