Update
We now have 4 members with chat/shout issues.
2 of us are local, one is UK, the other Canada.
2 of us run XP, one a mix of later WIn OS + Linux, & I think the other is a Linux user.

Interesting that my basic localhost version of SMF does not exhibit any similar issues.
So perhaps it is something to do with our web host setup?

No responses as yet, not even a suggestion.
Cheers

General Discussion / SMF Blog Plugins
« Last post by danmsmith018f on December 29, 2018, 11:40:30 AM »
Hi all,

I am currently on the lookout for a good SMF blog plugin and it seems as if all of the ones I find aren't that great.

They all run off of forum posts, which defeats the purpose of a blog.

I am looking for a plugin that creates a blog and styles the posts differently to forum posts.

If I don't find anything then I may need to create a separate WordPress blog, but I'd like everything centralised on my SMF forum.

any ideas?

Thanks

Go to the Default theme folder and find the PortalArticles.template.php file... Just passed this line "function template_articles_curve()" you'll see what to edit.

Find:
Code: [Select]
<div class="middletext">', $article['message']['time'], ' ', $txt['by'], ' ', $article['poster']['link'], '<br />', $txt['sp-articlesViews'], ': ', $article['topic']['views'], ' | ', $txt['sp-articlesComments'], ': ', $article['topic']['replies'], '</div>';
Replace with:
Code: [Select]
<div class="middletext">', $txt['by'], '&nbsp;', $article['poster']['link'], '  in&nbsp;', $article['board']['link'], '  ', $article['message']['time'], '</div>';

Thanks, fellas, that worked.

Whilst we're at it, do you know where the code for the following elements are stored?

  • 'Recent Contributions' simple portal block code, I'd like to nofollow the 'By {Username}' links
  • Board index 'Last post by {Username}' links? This isn't related to simple portal, but I'm hoping you know at the top of your head!
77
Note: last edit affects the login page too because it's not SP code but rather SMF code itself.

Open /Themes/default/languages/index.english.php

Find:
Code: [Select]
$txt['welcome_guest'] = 'Welcome, <strong>%1$s</strong>. Please <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=login">login</a> or <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=register">register</a>.';
$txt['login_or_register'] = 'Please <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=login">login</a> or <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=register">register</a>.';
$txt['welcome_guest_activate'] = '<br />Did you miss your <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=activate">activation email</a>?';
79
Open ./Sources/Load.php

Find:
Code: [Select]
$memberContext[$user] = array(
A bit further down you'll find them.

Code: [Select]
'title' => !empty($modSettings['titlesEnable']) ? $profile['usertitle'] : '',
'href' => $scripturl . '?action=profile;u=' . $profile['id_member'],
'link' => '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=profile;u=' . $profile['id_member'] . '" title="' . $txt['profile_of'] . ' ' . $profile['real_name'] . '">' . $profile['real_name'] . '</a>',

Hey, thank you, however, those look to be the links that appear when logged in.

Is there any way to get access to the guest links? e.g the 'Welcome, Guest. Please login or register. Did you miss you activation email? Those links.

It's in ./Themes/default/PortalArticles.template.php

In the template_articles_curve() function.
