[Where's Waldo?]

Today I see on SMF there is a new release of SP 2.3.5. Is this different than the same version 2.3.5 released last March?

There was one version 2.3.5 and package at simplemachines.org and here are the same.

The one on SMF was just added yesterday which I why I was wondering if it was a newer version of 2.3.5

It's not added but updated. I mean not the mod itself but the definition on the Mod Site. I just changed the supported versions to include the latest SMF versions.
