Html page getting cut short
« on: October 03, 2009, 11:35:21 PM »
Hello everyone,
First off I would like to say just outstanding work here ;D, now to my question.

I have the latest version of simpleportal and running the latest version SMF. I'm trying to add a html page, I post the entire code in the area and it appears fine, but when I look at the page half of it is missing. Its like there is a line limit on how much I can add, was wondering if its something simple that I'm missing?

Thanks for your help

The data for that page is stored using a Mysql 'text' type field, which means that there should be no issues with length if you have less than 65,000 characters.

How much HTML code are you trying to put into the block? If it is more than 65,000 characters, then that may be the issue.

thanks for the response, its 49422 characters and 554 lines. Well I spent a few hours on it and still could not get it working, then I figured I would just pull it up using an Iframe in a html page. This works very well, thats what I love about simple portal, they give us so many tools to work with.

Thanks so much everyone on the team for the hard work.

I'm glad that you got it working.

You could also use a PHP page, and then include the HTML file, so that you don't have to use iframes.

one more quick question if I may?
While doing the include method I have tried it both ways
Code: [Select]
<?php include("chart.html"); ?>and
Code: [Select]
include("chart.html");
the preview looks perfect but when I add page it says
Code: [Select]
Syntax error in block code. Please check the code.
any advice for doing this?

*edit*
a little more searching and this solved my problem sorry to post with out checking all avenues
