I know my info to the left is different, but this is on my test site.

I have SMF 2 RC 1.2 running and SP 2.3.1  I created a test user to make sure all the permissions work, and added an article.  However, the article was automatically approved even though the box next to automatically approve articles was not checked. 

Both installations are fresh, using the default theme, no other mods.  Is there another permission I need to uncheck or something in the article category I need to look at?  I had the category check to post to frontpage, but I unchecked it when I saw it was auto-approving to see if that would fix it.

If the membergroup has any of the 'Automatic article approval', 'Administrate portal' or 'Manage portal articles' settings, then their articles will automatically be approved.

That's the thing though, the only permission I have checked in simple portal is can add articles, all the other boxes I left unchecked.  I even glanced at all the other categories too and I don't see any reason as to why they should be automatically approved, it's the regular member profile with the added permission to add articles.  Pretty sure I left everything else default.

Edit:  Now that I go to the article manager the articles aren't approved, but they are appearing on the front page.  And now I see that all posts are appearing.  What option do I need to change to turn that off?

Edit 2:  I didn't know it was a block, sorry for the confusion.  Got it fixed.

Ah, yes. The Board News block has the same template as the articles.
