Upon install SF on a version of RC2 I am getting a 500-Internal Server Error. Any options short of reinstall from the beginning?

By SF I am assuming you mean SP.

Do you have any loose .htaccess files around?

What do you exactly mean by "upon installing"? Are you able to complete the installation process? Do you get this error on every page of forum, or just the portal page? (assuming you could complete installation)
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...
