Quick Menu Help
« on: June 11, 2012, 10:42:05 AM »
I made a little manual quick menu (nothing special) ... however one of my entries requires a user number to be added to the end to work properly.

The syntax is:

http://www.X.com/index.php?action=badgeawards;sa=badges;u=1

Where "u=1" is,  I need to change to the current user online.  Putting the above string loads up MY badges profile.   What is the code to make the U=1 dynamic and change to the current user number viewing the block?

Thanks!

Is this more difficult than I thought it might be?   Basically I am trying to make a link to a badges profile ... but the link has to change dynamically to represent the user who's clicking.

I don't think that this is difficult, but just don't understand what you want to accomplish.
You can get user ID from:
Code: [Select]
$context['user']['id']
or
Code: [Select]
$user_info['id']
but you have to globalize it (if it is not already in global)
Code: [Select]
global $user_info;

I will see if I can figure out what to do with that code...

:)

I am quite new at all this.

Basically ... I created a custom menu which includes a link to what is supposed to be the BADGES mod activity badges list.

When you click the link it calls up address:

http://www.x.com/index.php?action=badgeawards;sa=badges;u=1

The address is the same for each user EXCEPT the "u=1" part... that part needs to change dynamically with each user.  u=1 represents the admin account.   If user 2 clicks I need it to be u=2... etc...

I tried different things and failed miserably.

It's a PHP block.

Here is the exact line:

Code: [Select]
<img src="http://www.X.com/Themes/default/images/header_icons/badges2.png"/> <font size="2"><a href="http://www.X.com/index.php?action=badgeawards;sa=badges;u=1"> Under Construction</a></font><br>
How do I make that "u=1" dynamic and change based on the user ID viewing said block?

Thanks!

it should be something like this:
Code: [Select]
global $context;

echo'
<img src="http://www.X.com/Themes/default/images/header_icons/badges2.png"/> <font size="2"><a href="http://www.X.com/index.php?action=badgeawards;sa=badges;u='.$context['user']['id'].'"> Under Construction</a></font><br>';

or even better (more universal)
Code: [Select]

global $context, $scripturl, $boardurl;

echo'
<img src="'.$boardurl.'/Themes/default/images/header_icons/badges2.png"/> <font size="2"><a href="'.$scripturl.'?action=badgeawards;sa=badges;u='.$context['user']['id'].'"> Under Construction</a></font><br>';
