Removing search box (header) in the portal
« on: February 02, 2010, 05:14:03 AM »
Hi! :)
I use the "standalone" mode, how can I disable the search box (header) only in the portal?

Thanks! ;)

Find:

Code: [Select]
echo '
</div>
<div class="news normaltext">
<form id="search_form" style="margin: 0;" action="', $scripturl, '?action=search2" method="post" accept-charset="', $context['character_set'], '">
<input type="text" name="search" value="" class="input_text" />&nbsp;
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="', $txt['search'], '" class="button_submit" />
<input type="hidden" name="advanced" value="0" />';

// Search within current topic?
if (!empty($context['current_topic']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="topic" value="', $context['current_topic'], '" />';
// If we're on a certain board, limit it to this board ;).
elseif (!empty($context['current_board']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="brd[', $context['current_board'], ']" value="', $context['current_board'], '" />';

echo '</form>';

Replace with:

Code: [Select]
echo '
</div>
<div class="news normaltext">';

if (isset($_GET['action']))
{
echo '
<form id="search_form" style="margin: 0;" action="', $scripturl, '?action=search2" method="post" accept-charset="', $context['character_set'], '">
<input type="text" name="search" value="" class="input_text" />&nbsp;
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="', $txt['search'], '" class="button_submit" />
<input type="hidden" name="advanced" value="0" />';

// Search within current topic?
if (!empty($context['current_topic']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="topic" value="', $context['current_topic'], '" />';
// If we're on a certain board, limit it to this board ;).
elseif (!empty($context['current_board']))
echo '

It isn't working because you are using Standalone mode, try the edit below instead.

Code: ("Find (index.template.php)") [Select]
echo '
</div>
<div class="news normaltext">
<form id="search_form" style="margin: 0;" action="', $scripturl, '?action=search2" method="post" accept-charset="', $context['character_set'], '">
<input type="text" name="search" value="" class="input_text" />&nbsp;
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="', $txt['search'], '" class="button_submit" />
<input type="hidden" name="advanced" value="0" />';

// Search within current topic?
if (!empty($context['current_topic']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="topic" value="', $context['current_topic'], '" />';
// If we're on a certain board, limit it to this board ;).
elseif (!empty($context['current_board']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="brd[', $context['current_board'], ']" value="', $context['current_board'], '" />';

echo '</form>';

Replace with:

Code: [Select]
echo '
</div>
<div class="news normaltext">';

global $standalone;

if (!$standalone)
{
echo '
<form id="search_form" style="margin: 0;" action="', $scripturl, '?action=search2" method="post" accept-charset="', $context['character_set'], '">
<input type="text" name="search" value="" class="input_text" />&nbsp;
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="', $txt['search'], '" class="button_submit" />
<input type="hidden" name="advanced" value="0" />';

// Search within current topic?
if (!empty($context['current_topic']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="topic" value="', $context['current_topic'], '" />';
// If we're on a certain board, limit it to this board ;).
elseif (!empty($context['current_board']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="brd[', $context['current_board'], ']" value="', $context['current_board'], '" />';

echo '</form>';
}

@Nathaniel: With that code nothing seems to change from "default".. search box still appears in both portal and forum..

Looks like I might have been working with files from an older version of SP, try the code below.

Code: [Select]
echo '
</div>
<div class="news normaltext">';

global $sp_standalone;

if (!$sp_standalone)
{
echo '
<form id="search_form" style="margin: 0;" action="', $scripturl, '?action=search2" method="post" accept-charset="', $context['character_set'], '">
<input type="text" name="search" value="" class="input_text" />&nbsp;
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="', $txt['search'], '" class="button_submit" />
<input type="hidden" name="advanced" value="0" />';

// Search within current topic?
if (!empty($context['current_topic']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="topic" value="', $context['current_topic'], '" />';
// If we're on a certain board, limit it to this board ;).
elseif (!empty($context['current_board']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="brd[', $context['current_board'], ']" value="', $context['current_board'], '" />';

echo '</form>';
}

Little OT (maybe I should open a new topic..): What do you think about the recent travails in SMF? What will SP do?

And instead of remove it in the portal, how to set it to appear ONLY in the forum..
I've many SSI.php custom pages and I'd like to hide the search box on the portal but also on all of 'em... how can I show the search only in the forum?

Use the code below:
Code: [Select]
echo '
</div>
<div class="news normaltext">';

global $sp_standalone;

if (!$sp_standalone && getShowInfo(0, '', 'all,~board,~action'))
{
echo '
<form id="search_form" style="margin: 0;" action="', $scripturl, '?action=search2" method="post" accept-charset="', $context['character_set'], '">
<input type="text" name="search" value="" class="input_text" />&nbsp;
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="', $txt['search'], '" class="button_submit" />
<input type="hidden" name="advanced" value="0" />';

// Search within current topic?
if (!empty($context['current_topic']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="topic" value="', $context['current_topic'], '" />';
// If we're on a certain board, limit it to this board ;).
elseif (!empty($context['current_board']))
echo '
<input type="hidden" name="brd[', $context['current_board'], ']" value="', $context['current_board'], '" />';

echo '</form>';

See the "'all,~board,~action'" part? I haven't set that correctly (for what you want), but you can easily change it. It has the exact same format as the "Custom Display Options" setting for a block.

That will only display for the BoardIndex page, or when there is no action/board/topic. You may want to add '~board' as well, or even '~action' if you want the search to show on more than just the boardindex and the boards.
