Shout Box Block
« on: November 27, 2008, 01:27:56 PM »
Hello, I would like to install a shoutbox on my SMF forum (2.0b4) and have it display in a block set to "all pages" in SP 2.1. Since this (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=585) is the only shout box for smf 2.0 I am limited to using this. I have an idea on how to do this but then again I am an idiot, I am thinking I just install the shoutbox and take the changes it would make to my theme and insert them into a php block? Am I way off?

Ok I tried that and it didnt work, I am missing something essential.

heres my php block contents:

Code: [Select]
// YSHOUT HERE -
code
   global $boardurl,$shoutFile;
   $shoutFile='home';
   $scripturlparsed = parse_url($scripturl);
   $scriptpath=isset($scripturlparsed['path'])?$scripturlparsed['path']:'/';
   $args='';
   foreach($_GET as $key => $value) // passthrough $_GET
      $args.='&'.urlencode($key).'='.urlencode($value);
   echo '

   ';
   // YSHOUT END -
code

This is solved, here is my current php block contents:

Code: [Select]
   // If we're in a board, or a topic for that matter, the index will be the board's index.
   if (!empty($context['current_board']))
      echo '

';

// YSHOUT HERE -
code
   global $boardurl,$shoutFile;
   $shoutFile='home';
   $scripturlparsed = parse_url($scripturl);
   $scriptpath=isset($scripturlparsed['path'])?$scripturlparsed['path']:'/';
   $args='';
   foreach($_GET as $key => $value) // passthrough $_GET
      $args.='&'.urlencode($key).'='.urlencode($value);
   echo '

   ';
   // YSHOUT END -
code

   // YSHOUT HERE - shoutbox code
   global $txt,$context,$boarddir;
   if(allowedTo('yshout_view'))
   {
      echo '
',$txt['yshout_shoutbox'],'

';
      echo '
';
      echo '
',
      include_once($boarddir.'/yshout/yshout.php');
      echo '
';
   }
   elseif($context['user']['is_guest'])
      echo $txt['yshout_no_guests'];
   // YSHOUT END - shoutbox code

Works for me on SMF 2.0RC1... Only thing is I wish the font of the shout was a wee bit larger....
