SP-Shoutbox Audio - Simple Portal Plug-in
Version 2.1

This modification will function with Simple Portal 2.3.7
It will allow your Simple Portal Shoutbox to use an audio alert for new shouts.
Attention!! : It is advised to set each Shoutbox refresh rate setting to 5 seconds or greater for this plug-in to perform properly.

Please Note:
This modification will add extra settings to the Simple Portal Shoutbox Admin Page.
Admin -> Simple Portal -> Shoutbox -> Shoutbox Audio
Deleting Mp3 files, opting a Mp3 file, uploading mp3 files (max 40KB each file), enable/disable this plug-in, and a refresh rate setting will be available

+ added admin scrollbar with advisory
+ added auto setting for refresh rate of all shoutboxes (defaults them to 10 seconds)

+ strictly HTML5 sound file support (restricted to 40KB mp3 files due to multiple browser compatibility)
+ option to upload mp3 files
+ option to delete mp3 files (except default.mp3)

! HTML no longer added to the database
! admin language file changes
! plug-in name changed from SP-Shout Sounds to SP-Shoutbox Audio

+ Added time interval for when last sound effect will cease

+ Added HTML & Javascript code to new shouts when enabled
+ Added mysql to remove sound code from most previous shout
+ Added Admin options (Enable/Disable and Desired Sound Effect)

For this feature to function you must adjust/set some settings from your Simple Portal admin menu.

Please note that after adjusting the effect#, one must create a new shout & then clear their browser cache to hear the change.

Clear your shout history & try it again.
Are you absolutely positive that it installed cleanly without flagging installation errors?

yes, but i was have installed 2.3.4 RC 1 now i have installed 2.3.4 and sounds won't work

EDIT:

Maybe is necessary to make this:

*Empty the file cache from forum
*Prune all shouts

It seems to work after those two operations

For some odd reason, when i download the file, i get this

I guess AND I know I don't know what I'm doing. I downloaded the package and it told me that I couldn't use that type. So I did the other one and it said to stop there was a errior. I guess I just won't have sound on the shout box. I don't know enough to do it

You should really look into updating your forum to SMF 2.0.2

it would be really perfect if i can apply it in my forum.i established this mod without any problem, i turn it on from control panel of simple portal and made sound effect "10" but i cant hear any voice when i send a message in chat

how can we create a "shout_sounds.swf" folder to make our own sound?

these sounds are not bad but i really wondered how did u make this swf folder because im hearing different sounds not only "ding" sound, sometimes it is changing and im hearing "dong"

I like it but a suggestion ...

Every time a page with the shoutbox on it is loaded there is a sound, whether there is a new comment or not - a bit annoying. Not sure if this would present a lot of work for you or not, or if you want to change it anyway.

My idea would be that it only makes a sound if there is new comment.

Also needed the cache and previous comments deleting to get it to work, though not a big deal.

The file is in Adobe Flash v9 format, where you will need an appropriate editor to replace the mp3 files contained within.

I will work on this for the next version. Currently I am laboring on another project when time permits, therefore it may be a some time.
