Install error
« on: November 30, 2008, 12:08:52 PM »
I uninstalled 2.05 and am trying to install 2.1.1

I get this error when I execute the install:

Table 'mywebsite.smf_smf_sp_blocks' doesn't exist
File: /var/www/vhosts/mywebsite.com/httpdocs/forum/Packages/temp/install2.php
Line: 126

Any ideas?

The install doesn't go any further at that point.

Are you sure that you uninstalled 2.0.5?

Which version of SMF?

It shows uninstalled.

It was on 2.0 beta 3.1.  SP 2.05 worked fine on it.

I've tried to update my SMF to 4.0 thinking this may fix the SP error but I can't get that package to upload.  I'm getting a weird permissions error on the upload.

More problems than I anticipated.  The forum is working fine after the uninstall of 2.05.

Funny, I just reinstalled 2.05 without any errors.  Up and working just like it was before I uninstalled it.

You should completely uninstall SP 2.0.5 before installing 2.1.1, because it only has upgrade option from version 2.1.

"Completely Uninstall"?  I hit the uninstall button and it removed the 2.05 version.  I then hit the install button for the 2.1.1 version.  It showed me the list of edits it was going to perform and I then told it to proceed.  Then I got the error about the database "blocks" table did not exist and it wouldn't go any further.

Are you saying I need to go in and manually delete files?  Go into the database and delete tables created by 2.05??

I'm not following you.  The install of 2.1.1 should account for a previous install of 2.05 I would think and then react accordingly.

Can you please give me a little more info on the "complete uninstall"?

Thanks.

Okay, I guess I know the problem. You uninstalled the 2.0.5 as you said. Now, run this query from phpMyAdmin:

DELETE FROM smf_log_packages
WHERE package_id = '[SiNaN]:SimplePortal'

Then try installing 2.1.1 version.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

I ran the sql query, that executed fine.  The table sp_blocks does in fact exist but I get the same error in trying to install 2.1.1

No go.

I'm still waiting for a solution.  I'd love to try 2.1.1 but I can't get past the db error.

Is there another way to install??

If this is an isolated error and you don't want to help let me know and I'll give it up and wait for the next update.

If there's more info that I need to provide let me know that too.

Blue Dream,

Are you still interested in looking at the admin side of the site to help me install the 2.1.1 version?

It's been busy here over the holidays and I haven't had time to work on it.

Scott
