RSS Block issue
« on: November 30, 2008, 02:31:15 PM »
I use the workaround pre v2.1 discussed here
http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=236.0

which works well, but depends on another source and adds links on the output.

SP2.1 & SP2.1.1 have a RSS block now, but there are 3 problems with it.

1. if I set up a RSS for let's say this forum for the "development" area only, I get the post for the whole forum!
2. need to have a setting for how many posts to use.
3. need an option to see the whole post or just title.

thanks for the great block in the works

How did you set up the rss-feed? Because the rss feed load only the feed and make an output for this feed  :).
Again... I'm having time problems...Normal Monday to Friday I'm at office from 6:00-16:00 (On my local time ;P).

I just tried again to be sure

Click "add block"
click "rss feed block"

under "Feed URL" I placed
--------
(from another forum and area)
Forum > Bugs
the rss code that firefox gave to me to add was
 ...s.net/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=91
--------
but what loads on my forum is the top level rss from that other forum

The RSS Feed Block pulls the feed you place in the Feed URL box...

That's not the problem.  The problem is the feed is not configurable.  It will pull everything from that feed URL.

You should be able to specify the number of articles from that feed, as well as how much content you want to display from each article.  The RSS Feed Block does not allow this type of configuration...and will pull everything from the feed URL.

I think you need to address this issue as it pertains to this particular block.

You should also be able to configure whether or not to include HTML links within the feed.

RSS Feed Block is a very new block, so we didn't much time to customize it.

These all looks like Feature Requests to me though.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...
