You used the automatic uninstall but did not do the manual edits required (in red)?

In that case some files have code in that should not be there. Often it will stop the forum working because the left over code is requesting things used in Simple Portal.

It is probably too late to do the manual edits - unless you looked at the parsed versions on SMF mods page for SP2.3.3 and then look for those bits of code in each file... will take a long time. Also might be other mods in the code which, if removed, could cause errors.

To get your forum back the simplest way is the get the backup zip made when you uninstalled 2.3.3 - its in the Packages folder/backups. It will have the date in the title and a reference to Simple Portal 2.3. It will be near the bottom of the list - latest.
I use an ftp program to browse though and download. Or use the server file manager.

Mine looks like this:
Quote
2012-04-11_backup_SimplePortal_2_4.tar.gz

BEWARE! It is not the files with 'before' in the name. These are the files before you installed a mod and if you put these files back, all other mods after it will be lost.

2012-04-11_before_SimplePortal_2_2.tar.gz

Download it (..._backup_SimplePortal_2_3.tar.gz) then put the files in it back on your site. This will put everything back with simple portal 2.3.3 working like it was before you uninstalled it.

Then you have a choice - uninstall it again but make sure you do all the 'red' manual edits carefully. I copy them to a text file with the file location and name.

Another (easiest) option is to uninstall all the mods in reverse order - you can tell the order by the backup packages with the dates.
Doing it this way there will be no errors when you reach Simple Portal 2.3.3 - just uninstall it and then install the latest version and all the mods you had to uninstall.
Thats the easiest and quickest way.
