Recent posts block width problem in 2.1.1
« on: November 29, 2008, 08:48:31 PM »
Yep. It wont stay at the preset width (170px in this case) and insists on spreading sideways. Seems to be a wrapping problem of some sort. Makes it difficult to use the thing in a side panel. I'm running 1.1.7 of course.
This was happening while testing on my local host running XAMPP with XP Pro SP3 and FF3.

ETA: Getting a minor XHTML validation error on this page as well: End tag for "td" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified.

Code: [Select]
<tr class="windowbg">

<td style="padding: 5px;" colspan="2">
<div style="font-size: 11px;">
<div class="rollover">[code]

[/code]

Recent Posts block is not suitable for side blocks. Would you try the "Recent Side Block"?

For the XHTML error, is it possible to see the source?
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Source code was taken straight from this page using a validator that is a Firefox add-on and runs the standard W3 algorithm.
The code in my OP was an excerpt from the actual source code page.

Funnily enough that error isn't coming up today and I get other ones. Today it shows:

Code: [Select]
Document type does not allow element "tr"1 here
and also:

Code: [Select]
End tag for "tr" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified
Both are related to this section of the source code:

Code: [Select]
<table width="100%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" border="0" class="tborder" style="border-bottom: 0;">
<tr class="catbg3">
<td valign="middle" width="2%" style="padding-left: 6px;">

<img src="http://simpleportal.net/Themes/novelty11/images/topic/normal_post.gif" align="bottom" alt="" />
</td>
<td width="13%"> Author</td>
<td valign="middle" width="85%" style="padding-left: 6px;" id="top_subject">
Topic:  Recent posts block width problem in 2.1.1 &nbsp;(Read 34 times)
</td>
<tr>
<td colspan="3" class="smalltext"><a href="http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=profile;u=233" title="View the profile of antechinus">antechinus</a> and 0 Guests are viewing this topic.
</td>

</tr>
</table>

Also there is a duplicate id error for .nav#linktree but that sounds like an odd one.

ETA: Here's the online W3 readout for XHTML for this page of your forum: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fsimpleportal.net%2Findex.php%3Ftopic%3D1047.new%23new

We are using an old version of SimplePortal 2.1, the Alpha version. In SimplePortal 2.1.1, these issues should have been fixed. And the 'id' issue is related to theme we use.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

I have confirmed that this issue was fixed in SimplePortal 2.1, moving this topic to the 'Fixed/Bogus Bugs' board.
