Hello there,

I'm new to SMF, and just recently installed it. I was over on the SMF forums asking for a good Portal, and was told to check out Simple Portal.

I was browsing your Website Showcase forums, and came across the http://www.pearljamexico.net/ site, and it's the exact style of layout I'm trying to create myself, the problem is I don't know how.

I've got SMF installed, and upgraded to 1.1.7, and have downloaded the SimplePortalClassic2.0.5 .zip file, but I have no idea where to go from here.

Where do I unzip the files? To the root directory of my site, and then run the install file from the root directory, or from the SMF mod install section of the forums?

Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

First go for Simple Portal 2.1.1 is better integrated with the forum.
Download the zip file and keep it zipped.
Go to forum Admin section and look for Download Packages in Packages section. This tool will upload the zip file to your SMF forum. You maybe asked for ftp username and password for completing the upload. After that you have to look for a button that will install tha packages. It should be very easy and usually without any problem.
A new section will appear in Admin zone, it is the freshly installed SIMPLEPORTAL. Look for general settings and so on.
