Forum goes blank
« on: May 30, 2013, 01:09:16 PM »
Hello!

So I'm trying to install simple portal 2.3.5 on my SMF 2.0.4 forum but each time its done, after it says installation successful it refreshes it goes blank and there's nothing to do to fix other than load my forum backups.I have already created a folder called temps and set it to 777 chmod and also did a chmod 777 on everything.

Any solutions?Thank you!

EDIT: I have fixed it and gonna share how:

Before you install SP 2.3.5 before you press install, on that page you're gonna see files and in the right of them you're gonna see Test Successful for each. Now, if you don't see Test successful for one or more files it means that those files will not be copied automatically and you have to do it manually.

One more tricky part I need to explain, all those files you didn't get test successful for them are located in the SP 2.3.5 extracted folder and now the catch: for example lets say that you didn't get test successful on ./Themes/default/languages.This means you need to copy languages(this stands for the necessary file) (from SP extracted folder) to Themes/default(and this stands for where you need to copy it) and so with each you didn't get test successful on.Files that do not have themes/default or so you just need to copy them in your forum directory. All this done on FTP!I hope everyone understand more or less and good luck!

Zotac,

Imo make sure to change those file permissions back to ie. 0755 ... Do not leave them at 0777 as that may pose a security risk. (Do not forget the zero in the permission number when adjusting that setting)

Zotac,

Although Simple Portal provides a calendar block, settings and events for your calendar are part of your SMF admin itself. It must be enabled in Core Features and then you will see a link for it in your administration tabs. To post events you will need to link it to a specific board in your forum from the calendar settings. Also any user who enters a birthday in their profile will appear as a calendar event.

Please post any futher questions regarding the SMF calendar at simplemachines.org as this is not specific to Simple Portal.

Thank you.
