First of all. I am running SMF 2.0.4 . I was running Simple Portal 2.3.4 and attempted to upgrade to 2.3.5.

While uninstalling 2.3.4, I got "test failure" messages... I proceeded anyway and it told me the uninstall was successful. It does not show it is installed. Here is the problem  SP still exists and I can create or delete blocks etc.

Second, when I attempt to install 2.3.5, I get a lot of test failure messages, proceed anyway and package manager shows it as 2.3.5 installed

When I go to SP configuration, it shows 2.3.4 installed and 2.3.5 update as released.

Right now I am not sure what is installed or how even works at all.... HELP!!!!!    :0

Did you manually edit the files which showed as test failed?

Any errors in your error log?

I usually don't get failures on an uninstall and don't exactly know what that would look like.

SMF says it is no longer installed however SP is still functioning

If you uninstalled the mod despite the test failed errors then you may have duplicate code in the files.

First you shouldn't proceed with uninstalls if there are Test Failed messages while doing it. Second, you shouldn't install the new version without completely uninstalling the old version.

The best I can suggest at this time is, uninstall whatever package appears to be installed on the site now, if there is. Then use the manual installation instructions to remove every code and change made by SimplePortal manually making sure nothing related to SimplePortal is left on your site. Then make a fresh clean install of 2.3.5 version. Manual Install section on this page should give you an idea about the second step:

And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...
