The Shoutbox keeps refreshing error is back once again on my site. I'm totally unsure what tripped it of this time, however I got a traceback!

Quote from: error[19:02:45.124] TypeError: XMLDoc.getElementsByTagName(...)[0] is undefined @ http://fortitude-gaming.com/Themes/default/scripts/portal.js?235:96
Code (code) Select
var shouts = XMLDoc.getElementsByTagName("smf")[0].getElementsByTagName("shout");

And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

This happened to me recently too, twice as far as I remember. I'm using Chrome on Mac. When I disabled and re-enabled JavaScript, the error disappeared. Now I can't reproduce it and bugs you that you can't reproduce are the most difficult ones to solve.

There is something else I noticed though. When I browse this site having www. in the domain name, shoutbox doesn't work because of HTTP access control. It seems that browsers consider www. like a different domain, so having it or not makes a difference as far as HTTP access control goes. That might be the explanation for some of the problems users were reporting.

About your site, there seems to be a jquery.js include which cannot be loaded (right after the html close tag). That might be causing the error in your case. Fix that first and I'll check your site again.

I have no clue where this include comes from. I've used Notepad++ to search trough all the files to find this include and I've searched trough the MySQL database with no luck.

It might be something that server adds automatically, maybe related to stats or something. You may want to contact your host.

F**k me sideways.

The refresh issue is gone, the only single thing I changed on my site was to add commas to my "Meta keywords associated with forum" settings. I had forgotten to add commas there, there was just a big long line of words. I have no idea how this could affect the shoutbox. I'm glad anyway it did fix it, so weird.
